In this talk, Kathryn Lofton will consider how the fear of "cancel culture" comprises a significant expression of technological and epistemic risk. 

Kathryn Lofton is FAS Dean of Humanities, and Lex Hixon Professor of Religious Studies and American Studies, Professor of History and Divinity, Yale University. Dean Lofton has written several books and articles on religion, capitalism, sexuality, and the concept of the secular, including Oprah: The Gospel of an Icon (2011) and Consuming Religion (2017).
