In No Prophets: The Fight to Save Democracy from Christian Nationalism, U.S. Rep. Jared Huffman (CA-02) uses firsthand experience and extensive research to describe Christian nationalism's goal of authoritarian theocracy, and provides a roadmap for building an interfaith coalition to save democracy.
Rep. Huffman is a Humanist and the only member of Congress to admit he does not believe in gods. He co-founded the Congressional Freethought Caucus and is ranking member of the House Natural Resources Committee. Huffman is an alumnus of UCSB (B.A. '86, Political Science) and a former student of Walter Capps.
This event will be moderated by Joseph Blankholm, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, UCSB. Copies of the book will be available for purchase by Chaucer's Books, with an author signing following the book talk.
